Have you tried ice or heat at home before? Do those things help?
There are other things the physical therapist might be able to try, I suspect. Have you tried TENS treatments before? The therapist can try them in his/her office, and if TENS helps, they can prescribe a TENS unit which you can use at home. I've used TENS in the past for some problems (not this one in particular) and it was very helpful. I'm not sure if they use it for bursitis, but I know it has many applications. It might be worth asking about. It can help with pain control.
