Not necessarily an "alter" story.

One Thanksgiving snow storm meant over-night guests. Age 11 girls, family tried leaving in snow storm and almost crashed. Idiot Dad returned Mom and Kids back to house then drove off needing to go to work next day. So girl was emotionally "traumatized" by near crash and worried about dad's safety.

One small bedroom, 8 people, 3 adults, 1 teenager, 1 pre-teen, and 3 elementary age kids sleeping on two twin beds separated as 2 people on 2 box springs and one Mom and 3 kids on two mattress tops pushed together. Only sound breathing.

All of a sudden age 11 girl starts speaking Chinese. About 10 minutes then only male in room, girl's uncle says. "Well, that was interesting." I asked. "Does anyone else feel like we were getting cussed out in Chinese" Uncle. "Oh. Yeah. She was definitely cussing someone out."

Next day, she had no memory of speaking Chinese or knowing a Chinese person.

Adults "parents" and "grand parents" disagreed with a teenage girl. I was about age 7 and she was age 2, the grocery store near her home was owned by Chinese. We would hear "angry" Chinese from back storage area during shopping trips and started cracking up laughing.

I suspect her toddler brain recorded "storage back of mind" strange (anger) then familiar (laughing) sounds then the relative strange-familiar emotional sleeping environment, one small room, the strange sounds came out.

Repeating sounds is how we "teach" babies/child such as "say cookie." Saying cookie is a "non-emotional experience." Why couldn't and wouldn't babies/children "learn" foreign emotional experience sounds and repeat sounds without actually learning a foreign language.
