Based on their species' average lifespans, one is a mere child and the other a young adult.

What my current fear is a fire. So confining isn't the answer. My apologies. I should have been more clear. Right now I am thinking is a fire sprinkler system in the areas they hang out in. But I have questions I need answered about that.
