Have you talked to a professional about this? Post-Traumatic Stress can be caused by many different kinds of scenarios. What is traumatic for one person can be different from the next. If these dreams are really traumatizing to you and causing lasting effects, it might not fit the description or diagnosis requirements by DSM but it is still impacting your life and should be evaluated.

The part you mention about getting your driver's license and working the potential for PTSD to cause an accident is very troubling for me. I see you are currently on medication, which makes me think that you are likely speaking with a professional? I highly encourage you to bring this up with them.

I experience some truly horrific dreams as well. I have been for over 5 years. I actually started a dream journal and I found it did help me make sense of and address my dreams. When I wake up from a really bad dream, I will immediately log it in my dream journal. There is an entire site devoted to dreams, lucid dreaming, and dream journals at www.dreamviews.com/.

I have found that is very helpful.
