My job pays for Long Term Disability Insurance for 6 months after a 1 week waiting period. Has anyone ever been able to take advantage of this?

Here's the kicker - The only place I see success is at work. Work is about all I manage to get right while the rest of my life falls to ruins. Sometimes I think it would be SO GREAT to be able to get some sort of disability and actually TAKE CARE OF MYSELF, but I don't see how that would be likely to happen when I'm so high functioning.

I had a friend who I think was able to use hers (different employer etc) to go to rehab for 6 months. I've been learning a little more about what is going on with me and it's scary. Touching on these subjects is going to be DIFFICULT. I just feel like I need some rest. It's like I'm scared to do the work if I don't know that I'll have that security blanket to fall back on. Anybody have any experience?
