[Hi there and thanks for your reply.

you are right it is not recommended for people with Bipolar.

I was diagnosed Bipolar 2 on 24/12/04 after a lifetime of ADD symptoms
and two major episodes of mania with auditory and visual halucinations and then a huge crash into depression.
these were almost 15 years apart. I have a very slow cycle.

I have seen a psychiatrist (p/doc) twice some eleven years ago and have been depressed ever since. I take 5mg of Olanzapine every day.

currently I have seen my doctor who is reluctant to give me an anti-depressant because of the risk of mania. I agree with her.

So in my frustration and after ten years of depression and my brain almost
shutting down (hibernation) I am light sensitive so my condition is worse in winter (S.A. D) I decided to try SAM-e I did not realise that it was not recommended for those with Bipolar. I have been hypomanic once for five weeks (01/5/14) since being diagnosed and I loved every minute of it.

I took 400mg for 7 days and was experiencing hypomania for the first three days along with some slight stomach aches. This then faded but I discontinued SAM-e on the eighth day just to see what happens.
So far my depression has disappeared , my motivation is up, my brain is alive and I feel great. The hypomania has subsided and Its like I am a new person.

There is a great tendency especially in the usa for health proffesionals
to not recommend products in fear they might be on the end of a law suit
because of side effects from drugs or even suicide.

I can only say what this supplement has done for me so far.
(watch this space.) Sam-e is a naturally occuring chemical in the body all
I have done is give my brain chemicals is a helping hand.
I also believe that Olanzapine puts a ceiling on hypomania to stop full blown mania. but who knows.

If you don't like the results then discontinue this supplement.
what have you got to loose ?

Google How does SAM-e work and do some research. ( see article in Psychiatric times)

good luck !
