Dear friends,
I have been in a serious depressive episode during june, and now it has passed. The possibility to post here and get support from you was very helpful

Anyway, since the forum was so helpful, I thought I wanted to find some italian forum about depression, so I can relate with people in my own language. Well, I am VERY disappointed from what I have found.

You are definitely light years ahead in the culture of helping and supporting.

In the italian forums I have seen awful things such as:

- one boy come in asking "I feel nervous and scared and etc, am I depressed?". Others simply start telling their opinion, without mentioning the possiblity of asking a pdoc! damn, the guy was 18, a correct diagnosis is VITAL!

- people stumble in suddenly posting such idiocy as "don't take pills! chemical can't help you". as if the possiblity of using meds was not to be evaluated by a doctor; as if a depressed person's brain was not chemically different from a sane person.

- another one says "go volunteering, help suffering people, and depression will be fixed". no need to comment...

- many people bring on arguments, and you can feel a constant tendency to duel about who is more depressed or panicked or has taken more meds, or has suffered more...

- and also, at last, you find some bit of sincere and heartfelt SUPPORT such as "I'm sorry you are feeling so bad" or "I hope you are doing well now".

It is very sad, I don't think I want to find myself there if (I should say "when") I'll get depressed again... I'll definitely come here where only caring and INFORMED people are present...

Thank you again and praise to you all!
