You did do the right thing. They probably would have caught the error eventually and you would have had to give it back in the end. Plus, if you like this company and want to stay there, you've made a big impression on them that you are honest which is worth more than a few extra dollars right now.

Too bad they didn't give you more praise for being truthful, though ...
