that has happened to me and is 'why' i end up dissociating. i tend to dissociate also when i become anxious or panicky. i cannot seem to handle that and have a few seconds of being aware of it before the dissociation kicks in and i feel numb and out of it. i believe the emotional pain is quite normal to dissociate from whether it's related to PTSD or DID as both can trigger a similar response as PTSD can often also have a dissociative response for many.
