Hello Polihale and Welcome to PC!

I hope that soon you are feeling better (physcially). I'm a believer that the body and mind work together and this time that you are layed up could have been the trigger to your anxiety about money.

In the mean time, if you haven't done so already and when you are in a relatively logical, non anxiety mood, sit down and write out your goals either alone or with your girlfriend. Notice that you are already planning for the future by putting a good chunk into savings. Keep the list posted somewhere that you have access to see it every day as a reminder that you are doing everything you possibly can to reach your goals and to continue to be independent.

The next thing I would do is to really soulsearch about having children. Is this something you really want to do at this time, or are you apprehensive about it for other reasons than just the cost of raising a child? Could something else be triggering this anxiety in you?

We all worry about money and our futures. It's a natural thing to think about. Of course when it becomes an obsessive issue, everything can look skewed and unrealistic. Maybe talking to a financial planner would help you feel less anxious about things. Get their perspective on what you are doing with your money. You may find that you really have little to worry about and that might help your anxiety to lift.

I hope you find some answers and some peace. Know that you are not alone in your thoughts and feelings. I'm sure others here will have some great ideas for you. Keep posting, it does help!

Wishing you all the best.

Hugss
