These are funny!
During my first ER visit, we were under a tornado watch. Of course, it wasn't helpful that much of my mania was weather related... or that I was drunk; so the realization of being committed never actually occurred to me. Instead, I was slowly becoming more agitated with the fact that everyone was carrying on with business as usual.
I remember ranting about how we need to be home with our families taking shelter, but with no one wanting to take my advice, I then for some reason thought it would be a wonderful idea to try and escape.
I bolted outside my room, managed to get past the security guard watching me, and run outside through an emergency exit. Just where I was going I had no idea; a few seconds later I remembered that I am, by nature, very lazy, and have absolutely no stamina. So I collapsed to the ground a few feet from the door where I made my exit; and as I did, off came my lovely hospital gown. I'm female! Lucky me!
I was carried back inside, strapped down, and injected what I believe was either Haldol or Benadryl. I don't remember.
This memory used to leave me mortified, but now I just laugh at it!
