I chose my avatar because it's bright and colorful and represents not only the color wheel you learn in any basic art class, but the pride I possess for my bisexuality. It was a most healthy and liberating time in my life when I accepted that part of myself and I like to have something I can see on a regular basis that reminds me to never let anyone, let alone myself, try and convince me that I am morally wrong for the way I was born.
My SN was chosen because I am a chick and I love and create art in various ways, which I find very chic. The numbers in it represent the month and day my beloved uncle lost his struggle with Bipolar Disorder and took his life (he had a manic episode where he stopped taking his meds and swung down to severe depression and, yeah). I never want to forget him as he was a simple yet kind soul who is greatly missed. He had a sort of customary way of starting each day, by telling a joke to his family. He did this so they would have something to smile about and make their day that much brighter.
I also choose the date because it was at his funeral that I realized the full pain a suicide can have on loved ones and vowed I wouldn't follow in my uncle's footsteps and be the cause of such pain. I also was awed by the turnout of mourners come to pay their respects. I figured I have a few more things to do and more lives to touch to get such a turnout at mine. All in all, it was an eye opening experience for me.
