I hear you, I have a huge fear of surgery and anesthesia! But you should be fine, such complications are very rare. The best thing to do is just to voice these fears with your doctor, the nurses, and if possible, the anesthesiologist. These sorts of worries are quite common, and they'll know how to deal with it. I think before most surgeries patients are given a mild tranquilizer or sedative to help quell such anxieties.
