I had a pdoc once, he never looked at me, just at his note pad. I had enough and said"look at me damn it, I'm right here" he looked so startled, like the thought that I was a real life person sitting in his office instead of some classroom exercise. When I left that day I requested a different pdoc, it took awhile but meanwhile he looked at me when I went in and I didn't have to repeat myself so much. Maybe that's what your pdoc needs, to realize she's not dealing with abstracts but people.
