This is an interesting question because I actually struggled a bit when starting therapy a few months ago, because I felt like I was sitting too far away from my T.
She sits in an armchair opposite another armchair and there is a big table in between, we are about 7 feet from each other. Occasionally we used a different room where we are much closer, its also got books in it and is generally less echoing and empty. I find myself feeling much better in the more natural room and sitting closer.
