I think sometimes we get taken advantage of because of our memory problems. My kids used to do this shamelessly because they knew I questioned my own memory and they got away with a lot more than they should have. I also suspect my mother of gaslighting me because she always said "You just remember that wrong" or "That never happened" any time I disputed something she had said or done to me.
