A comfort list is a list of all the things you can do to comfort yourself instead of self-injury. We have written down tons of them here. The goal is that when you have urges and can't think of anything other then SI you can get out your list and start trying to do these things that in the past has made you feel better. It is also a good idea to have one if you are going to start working on past emotions and pain because digging into that stuff can affect your ability to find things to help you feel better while you are processing the old junk.

Carrie's Comfort list:
slowly eat a creamy chunk of chocolate
Go for a walk or a run in the woods
Get on Psychcentral and talk to friends
Play Video Games (diablo 2 is awesome so is zuma)
Write in my journal
Take a long hot bath

That is a short version but you get the idea. The hope is there will be something on the list that will help to turn the tides. Unfortunately I forget about my comfort list which isn't too helpful. Perhaps I should make a new list and tape it to the wall:

Find Comfort list.
Pick something off Comfort list
If doesn't work Pick something else off comfort list
