My mom was here the past week and she is definitely bipolar but has never been treated. She hides it being in a cult like religion, being into herbs, etc. Her addiction was definitely shopping. Back in the 80's she would binge shop and racked up $25k in debt. At that time it was a big deal. There would be clothes hanging in the closet with tags still on them. She had to remortgage her house and pay it off. Now she is elderly and doesn't have money but it doesn't stop her compulsion for shopping, its just moved to Good Will and thrift stores. She goes to like 5-6 in a day. Seriously. Definitely we all have our things in mania, mine is drinking to much and risky behavior.
