I did that once and a couple of weeks later half my tooth crumbled off. I needed a specialist root canal because normal anesthetic wouldn't numb the area. It cost me €800 to repair the tooth. I'd get your tooth checked out asap, if there's pain it's usually a sign that the root is exposed and that's bad bad news.
