You might also keep your eye out for a temporary seasonal job (which sometimes you see through a temp agency, sometimes an ad from the employer) - mail order/catalog companies often hire additional help packing/sorting/shipping (no customer contact). A lot of those jobs don't care about employment history. I think your timing is really good on this one - there are a lot of temp hires this time of year.
