Sassy,

My husband just had the appointment last Sunday with the Psych guy for SS......he was thinking that they were going to ask him all kinds of questions & all the guy did was to say 3 words......talk to him, ask him to spell the word WORLD backwards.....then asked him to remember the three words that he had first told him.....that was a huge joke...& my husband was pissed. He called them up on Monday & ask them what in the world was that going to prove. They told him that is wasn't going to really mean anything & that the reports they received from his Dr's (or more to the reality, my Dr's) were going to be the determining factors.

I think they just do those appointments to keep useless people employed. I would be embarassed to have a job like that when it really serves no usefull purpose.....of course, there may be some disabled people who are at a more serious level where that sort of appointment would be meaningful.....just not in most cases.

The first time my husband applied for disability, they denied him before ever setting up an appointment with their Dr's.

I personally don't remember what I went through.....I guess I was really messed up at the time, because I don't remember much of that time in my life.....I got disability the first time without any hassles. I had already gone through a workmans come case & lost that....& going through that sent me into the hospital many many times.

Don't worry, & don't get mad at them for the stupid appointment either.....just beware that you may end up feeling really frustrated afterwards, thinking it was totally useless.

Good luck....& don't worry,
Debbie
