That's awful. It's really messed up that therapists won't take you because of their rate with your insurance plan. I went through a similar issue recently. My T unexpectedly went on medical leave and forgot to give me the referrals she promised, and I could not find anyone to see for 2 months. I called over 30 therapists that my insurance recommended, and none of them would take me. Some were because of my insurance rate; others were because they were full; others were because they didn't want to work with someone who was dealing with "attachment issues" because my T left suddenly in a medical crisis. What I ended up doing was seeing a T I didn't particularly like who did not take my insurance (which meant I had to pay out of pocket). I knew it would not be a permanent situation, but I did it for about a month just to have SOMETHING.
