I adopted 2 cats. Well, 3. First I took in a tiny stray kitten from my apartment's parking lot. She died about 2 weeks later. The grief book the vet gave me said I should go to visit a shelter and see how I felt. Well, apparently I felt I should save ALL the kittens but thank God I didn't have the cash required to adopt more than 2. But instead of just visiting and considering I visited, picked out a kitten, fell in love with another, went to the eye dr and went back and adopted the 2nd. This left me no time before my therapy appointment so I took them INTO therapy with me (with the therapist's permission at least). I also bought an extreme number of cat items I did not need, many of which had to be thrown out a few weeks later when it turned out that the cute spots on one kitten were actually ringworm (which I got all over my face). With one of them getting very sick a few weeks after being adopted and the vet bills I spent several thousand dollars that year on cats.
