I went through the same thing. I was in a relationship where the other person ended up on disability with no income so we could no longer keep up on the credit card debt.

I know it feels humiliating (actually when I went to court the person who I sat in front of (it's not a judge) was someone I grew up with - ughh!) - but if you have no other choice then it's what you need to do.
