I took my Mom to the Dr. today. I had never met the Dr. before and my brother only gave me sketchy directions about how to find the Dr's office. I had never been in that area and I was anxious about it. I wanted to be there early to give me more time in case I got lost trying to find the place.

When I arrived at Mom's house she was running late. I sat in the house as long as I could stand it and finally went out to the car and turned on the a.c. to make it cool enough for her. She finally came out and off we went.

My brother told me to take a left at a particular shop. I couldn't. There was a huge sign saying "No Left Turns", so I had to go on down a four lane highway, find a place to turn around and go back and try again. By that time I was aggravated and trying to naviagate another unfamiliar four lane road with lots of traffic darting across the lanes.

As I drove I wondered how in the world I would recognize the building and had worked myself into a state of aggravation. Mom didn't say a lot, but finally she said, "Where are we going?" I thought, "Oh my gosh, Mom has forgotten we're going to her Dr! When did this start? Does she have dementia? I haven't noticed it before. What does this mean? I have to tell her Dr!"

I took a deep breath and in a shaky voice, I said, "Mom, we're going to see your Dr." She pointed at a building we passed a couple blocks back and said, "Well, I just wondered because his office is back there."
