Yes. I was first mis-dx with depression and put on just Celexa. I went pure manic. Once they figure out I was mood swinging and other symptoms they knew I was BP1. They took me off Celexa. I was put on a mood stabilizer, an antipsychotic and then an antidepressant. I've been fine since. My body just needs the mood stabilizer and the antipsychotic your frnd might only need one or the other.
