Do you do treatments also?
Hi,

yes I have been doing them for the past 2 years. I do not respond to anti-depressants and I was hospitalized so the only choice I had was to try ECT. Unilateral lasted for 1 week, so the doctors told me about Bilateral and I started that which luckily lasted for 2 weeks, and now I am at 3 weeks.

I have met other patients who get the treatment every 4 weeks, and I even met another patient who gets the treatment every 6 weeks! But I have also met other patients who didn't benefit from it. One person I met told me that she tried bilateral and that didn't even last for 1 week. I am lucky that for me so far it has been the only thing that has helped my depression.

I am able to work as well, it has not bothered me. The doctors asked me if I wanted to try 4 weeks, so I am going to try that pretty soon. Hopefully that will work.

Have you had any side effects from it? I do have some short term memory stuff, but nothing bothersome to the point that I can't live my life. How about you?

Do you have anxiety? That is my main problem, and none of the anti-depressants work so I am stuck taking sedatives which I don't really like , but it allows me to live my life. I am able to work and go to school, so I know there is a lot of stigma behind ECT and sedatives, but I don't care.
