I stopped pt for wrist today - I'm just not getting in as many exercise reps as she wants. I am overwhelmed with pretty much everything (and been sui) so I just asked for a month off where I can practice as I can and get stronger before we add anything. She agreed. The other pt for my neck saw I'd been in the ER the week before (I didn't think she saw it since she's not mentioned it in the past). but because my mood was so down and she noticed, I filled her in. She was concerned, but level, and asked if she needed to call someone. I said no. So she called a social worker (who called me the next day). It's nice to have people who actually care without freaking out. Ya know? They could have easily pigeon-marched me up the hill to psych. It's a relief that I can be open about "How much longer am I going to live like this?" and not have people panic. They get it - they work with pain patients day in and out. "I care about you. If I didn't care, I wouldn't ask". Wow. that simple, huh? Then we were silent a long time ... and she said "I hope you don't do anything - I'd miss ya." I'd miss her, too. I thanked her for caring. She gave me a hug and said "You'll make it". I said "I know - I always do."

Yesterday I talked with our building mental health gal when I got home, who also started looking for resources (found only what I had - nothing), then the hospital social worker today. Good people, all of them. Real. Down to earth. It's refreshing. I think I will be changing insurances (Medicare advantage plans) to something that can get me in with the right folks who can help my disability.
