''tough it out''!? that is so callous and uncaring! But I know how you feel. I got similar reactions from many docs in the UK. It was only when I moved to South Africa and my GP sent me to a rheumatologist that I actually got a proper diagnosis. I have had Fibro all my life, my mother and grandmother also had it. (Though it wasn't recognised then)

''One of the problems is that with fibro, your pain threshold is so low as to be almost nonexistent, so something that may only cause the slightest irritation to another person can be extremely painful to a person with fibro'' is what he told me and ''a mild discomfort to someone else can be agonizing to a person with fibro''

Maybe you can talk to you doc again about pain control, if you tell them often enough they might start to listen, also find whatever info., you can about it on the internet, maybe print out what you think is relevant and show it to them.

I hope you get some relief soon, but try to manage with the lowest dose you can, as you will need more as you get older so you don't want to build up a resistance to the painkillers to early or they won't work when you are older and need them more.
Trust me on that! :0
