skittles, that seems a long time between visits to the therapist to me. You mention you have anger issues to work on, and I would guess you want to work on managing mood symptoms. And maybe other stuff. Sounds like a lot of stuff to work on in therapy and I wonder if 3 weeks plus between visits to the T will be effective? Or will you see her more frequently after that?
Your T does seem focused on diagnosis, but sometimes they approach new clients that way, based on their training and the requirements of the insurance. (Gemstone, The T often makes a diagnosis without a pdoc. They are trained to do that, plus many clients don't see a pdoc also.) I'm not one who favors the medical approach for myself so I probably wouldn't like it if my T focused so much on diagnosis in the first visit, but I know insurance can place strict requirements on them. Hopefully, you will move on to therapy the next visit. I hope you end up liking your T--sounds like maybe there is a chance. Great! If therapy is to be successful, that's half the battle. Good luck.
