Deplin is L-methylfolate. The way my pdoc explained it to me (or at least the way I remember her explanation) is that some individuals do not methylate folate, which is a necessary step for your body to use the folate in your diet. In other words, you may consume enough folate, but your body may not be able to use it properly (hence the low plasma and red blood cell numbers). If this is an incorrect or incomplete description, Larry Hoover would be able to fill in.
Good luck if you try it. It is pricey. If it's helpful, perhaps you can petition the manufacturer for patient assistance?
