In order to cope and be able to produce emotional responses when mine go dead I have trained myself to use reason and logic to react "normally"

The problem comes when I am not at the bottom and the well practised mental exercise interferes with actual emotion

You may be subconsciously be doing the same thing. You are probably suffering from depression, reducing your energy, but giving yourself drive and motivation intellectually. The issue is that, logically, you KNOW you should be doing something, which triggers responses in the forebrain but the body fails you, triggering responses in the mammal brain

Net result is cognitive dissonance
