Antidepressants usually don't work in the long run because of "oppositional tolerance." The usual thing is that they help for a while, but then your brain compensates in the opposite direction. The risk is that you end up still depressed, possibly with side effects, but now unable to stop taking the drug without suffering withdrawal.
Lucky for you, there are lots of safe ways to try to get better. These often work and most of them are just great for your health anyway. You've got nothing to lose by trying these:
