Something I've seen people I was IP with who were getting ECT do is that they have moments they feel better, even chunks of time they feel better (one woman would have better days on her off days) and then get the ECT and forget that they felt better and then it was impossible to believe that they had been better the day before. So maybe ask your husband and mom what they've seen and if you've had any improved times that you've forgotten because of the treatments?
When I'm IP I usually keep a notebook and write down every single thing that happens. If I do ECT I'm really hoping that this habit sticks, at least somewhat, so that I can read about the day before and the days before that. We'll see; I know that can be really hard while going through it and the only thing that will probably have me doing it is the habit. Although my last stay I wrote down exactly 5 lines on a beautifully collaged notebook. I can't remember what we were collaging but mine is really pretty (I think I lost track of the assignment halfway through and did my own thing).
