I know my depression isn't MDD, but certainly pervasive depressive disorder.

And no, I haven't because I'm afraid that my family will judge me for being depressed. I can take them picking at my anxiety, which plays a part in why I am depressed, but I wouldn't be able to tell them that I'm depressed because they are considered the "public" and will say I look happy and I'm not depressed. That's like telling someone with a broken leg that it doesn't look broken so they should walk. No, that's not how it works people. I want to, but I'm scared of being judged for it. I understand family pressures to put on a happy face, and also being judged. I wish it were easier to deal with for everyone. But perhaps you could do a cost/benefit analysis in your head--is it worth suffering through untreated depression in order to keep your family from judging you? Obviously you know your family the best and so only you know the answer to that. But also remember--if it HAD come up on the screening they would already know!

If you do talk to your pdoc or t about it and you get an MDD diagnosis instead of persistent depressive disorder, I wouldn't worry too much. Of course we always want the right diagnosis. But they are treated pretty much the same way so in practical terms it will make little difference.
