It's part of bipolar. It's called hyperacuity. It is so annoying. I get this with mania. One of the best ways to know if I'm manic is that I can hear both of my therapist's clocks ticking off beat from one another and it irritates me greatly. Enough we've had to turn on white noise. Even the noise of water in the shower can be enhanced and bothersome.
