I found an article on the BBC News website about there being a link to the over-activity of the immune system in schizophrenia, in particular microglia in the brain, which may effectively sever connections in the brain leaving it wired wrong.

Apparently there has been some success in using anti-inflammatory drugs alongside conventional medication although they are hoping that using anti-inflammatory drugs in those at high-risk might prevent the disease altogether. Wishful thinking surely but interesting nonetheless.

Unfortunatly there aren't any links to studies or anything but I'm sure they could be found on Google.

Immune clue to preventing schizophrenia
