Many times it is not life what oppresses us until we want to die but society and its conventionalism, I think acknowledging the difference may help us to stick to this world. I mean, if it is just conventionalism we can disregard it and yet have a meaningful life.
For example conventionalism says a childless woman is less worthy. Some women feel empty because they do not have children but sometimes the emptiness comes more fro that they cannot fulfill the role they are are supposed to than a real need to have children. We need to deeply dig in to discover the origin of our expectations and understand the multiple paths to self development. Following just what society expects from us is sometimes a great source of unhappiness
