I'm the only BP'er out of 2 parents and 6 kids.
I also worried about passing it on to my now 11 y.o daughter, especially when she asked me if she could get it.
But she told me, "don't worry,at least if I get it you'll be there to help me. I wont have to struggle alone like you have been doing"
So now I don't worry about it, we'll cross that bridge when and if we get there.
I agree that the more important question is whether you actually want kids and can manage having them, than what ifs.
What if your child is born with 6 fingers, what if your child is born with a learning disability, what if your child is born with down syndrome, there's an almost infinite amount of what ifs we can come up with... Living our lives based on what ifs limits us even further than this disorder does.
And really this disorder already robs so many of us, I would find it sad if any of us willingly gave it any more than it already snatches away.
