Isn't it possible she said these things as a statement about how mental illnesses are already stigmatized, how none of us can be open about what we're dealing with, without being judged? Because to be honest, that's what it sounds like to me.

I'm not saying it was necessarily the best choice of words, or that it will be amenable to everyone, but I am saying it was likely well intended and not malicious. Artists are disruptors, there to open up conversations and not shut them down. Art and activism often feed off each other, but not always by working in tandem.
