I don't know how the laws are in Canada but in the US you would be legally within your rights to go back home, plant your butt on the couch and force them to serve you with an eviction notice (whether you've been paying rent or not). The eviction notice buys you 30 days to figure out where and how you're going to live. They're not allowed to just throw you out on the streets.

You might want to try calling your local government for info on emergency housing or look for nonprofits that can help you out.
