In August when I was IP one of the ideas was to change me from one MAOI to another. At the time I used the online form for my insurance and it said the meds weren't covered and I'd have to pay $50/month with a coupon.
I've been planning to change to a different insurance that covers the other 2 MAOIs when the plans change in January. But since that didn't take care of things now I knew that I was probably facing hospitalization for ECT or to go on clozaril.
Today I looked at my updated formulary for the same insurance I'm on and it includes both drugs. I used the online thing again and discovered I had pushed the wrong button and they were covered all along. Meaning that I might have prolonged this because of an error.
I still have no idea what will happen when I see my pdoc tomorrow. I still do not feel that I necessarily want to do another drug trial because we keep doing those and they keep not working. And if I'm likely to need to be hospitalized soon I have about 10 days to get in there before my no-deductible period expires. I may have to go in to change MAOIs, I don't know. But I still can't help wondering if ECT would be better than trying yet another drug; this would give us the option of doing something different after ECT which I know was a concern. But I don't want ECT needlessly either. I just want to feel better.
Which is exactly why it is so stupid that I can't read a simple webpage that clearly said it was covered at $3.00/month.
