OCD usually doesn't start to develop at an average of 19 so it would be reasonable to not have any symptoms until 17. I had symptoms starting at 14 I think. And also, sometimes a traumatic event can turn on the OCD gene inside of a person. And what type of intrusive thoughts do you have? And why don't you like the fact that it is a mental illness? Would you accept it better if it was a physical illness? Anyways, talking about this to a doctor should get you somewhere. You don't need to take medication. There are natural remedies. Hope this helps [emoji3].
