I used to have an unhealthy way of viewing labels also. It's something that isn't a problem for me anymore, but man it was rough when it was so I'm nothing but empathetic about your struggle with it. I used to HAVE to be able to define things, have a framework, have something concrete to point to to say "THIS is what it is because of *insert label*." But over time I've realized that while labels have their uses, human beings are complex and nobody fits neatly into any label be it good or bad or anywhere in between.
I've had bad experiences with labels too, gotten the wrong ones many times and it was damaging to me.
I think the last line in your post is right on point, just go with how you feel and try not to worry what others think so much. When I stopped caring what people think of me(and it's something I'm still working on), I felt so much more free and at peace.
