IMHO amino acids are EXTREMELY underrated. The one that's helped me the most is l-glutamine, but it is the one that rarely comes up when talking about amino acids and mental health. I have chronic PTSD and it's helped my anxiety and triggering IMMENSELY!
Caution is good, but don't be deterred. Holistic docs are very hard to find. You CAN do this on your own. Sometimes your body becomes deficient in......whatever......so supplementation is necessary. Docs Rx mega doses of VIT B and D because it's impossible to "catch up" from a normal diet alone. The same can be said for other supplements, vitamins, minerals, too. And once your body has a sufficient level of certain supplements, you can taper down/off. My mom did so with vitamin D, I did the same with amino acids.
I don't understand why people actually are so.....unaware (to the point of hostile denial)......that a poor/deficient diet can cause so many problems, exacerbate symptoms, etc.
