I don't think your psychotic symptoms had anything to do with your BPD diagnosis.

Experiencing hallucinations doesn't mean you are going to develop schizophrenia and need to take antipsychotic medication. Sleep deprivation, narcolepsy, anxiety, medication, street drugs and stress can cause hallucinations. People who don't have a mental illness sometimes get them.

Hallucinations that occur when you are falling asleep (stage 1 sleep) are called hypnogogic hallucinations. Hypnopompic hallucinations happen when you wake up. They are completely normal and do not require medication. Perhaps you are noticing them now because you are stressed and more aware of what is going on within you.
