Morning...

My mood is fairly bleak today for some reason... perhaps because I was looking up people I went to high school with on FB & they all seem to be getting married or having kids etc.

I feel like I've achieved FA with my life really... and I'm not exactly sure I'm going to achieve much in the future... I went for my walk & was basically thinking negative thoughts the whole time, even had some suicidal ideation.

Anyway, to take my mind of the ****** thoughts, I decided to look in to the logistics of getting a cat. Gives me something to plan & work towards...

I know I'd really like a Burmese because they are meant to be affectionate cats but the downside to that is they might not be as well suited to being left alone whilst I was working. Then of course there's the fact getting a kitten of any breed probably wouldn't work because they need a lot of attention to begin with anyway. That leads me to the conclusion that I'd probably be best to rehome an adult cat.

I think my Sister has got all her cats (4 of them, 5 if you count one that died) that way. 3 of them are/were great cats... but 2 are a bit timid for my liking. Looking up the places that rehome cats though they seem to describe their temperament plus you can go meet them first anyway, so I guess it's not as much a case of pot luck getting a cat suited to you.

I figure it's do-able in my flat....it's not big but I think there's enough space. I read something that said it's less about how big your apartment is & more to do with things like having windowsills, places to sleep & jump on etc. I might need a bit of planning on where to put a litter tray, cat scratcher & bed but I'm sure I could figure it out.

I looked it up & there is a vet not too far from me. There is also a cattery (or "pet resort" as they call it... ) that actually do a collect/deliver service... which would be ideal for me since I don't drive.

Overall, definitely something that's possible. I suppose it could happen as early as Easter next year if I get a stable job by then. I'm assuming I'd be able to afford a cat on even a basic salary but I guess I'd have to figure that out.
