I agree with Supanova. BPD can be treated (eventually cured) if the individual actually does the work of recognizing their cognitions and changing their behavior. It's not easy, especially if the individual considers their current behavior adaptive rather than maladaptive. DBT empowers the individual by giving them new skills to meet the challenges they experience in life. It teaches distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation and interpersonal skills.
