Kids are curious beings, and when they see something "mysterious" like adults they are drawn to it but kids are of course innocent so they aren't as aware of the possible dangers of those of us that are "darker" as adults are(but heck, I've met many adults who are way more naive than any child will ever be). That's my thought on the matter anyways. And kids always gravitate towards adults who really get "on their level" so to speak. It sounds like you likely made this kid's week, hence the attachment.
