I always think to myself that what happened to me as a kid was "outside" the rules of the game and abnormal, so it takes a breaking of the rules of the game and being abnormal once again to get where I want to be in life.

My life was made "out of the ordinary" by experiences, so only if I do something out of the ordinary will it work out like it was meant to.

Similar to "an eye for an eye" or "fight fire with fire".

It's like walking on a trail or something atop a mountain, and to reach your destination you have to go north, and only north, which will lead you to a hot spring and holiday camp. That's the rule of the trail. Yet, someone pushed you and you fell down the slope, ending up in a river gorge or something, and this thing goes where it wants to go, twisting and turning, and there are cliffs so you can't go back up. All you can do is follow the river roughly northwards, and then follow the bends too, even if they go northeast, northwest, west, east, or even double back and go southward. You just have to keep going, because this river is the river coming from the spring. Sure, you're not sticking to the "go north" rule, but that's because you were dealt a game changer. So, screw the "go north" rule, nobody was supposed to push you off the track in the first place.

And, there is an advantage too. You're already on the spring's level! You don't have to descend to get to it. All those others, and the guy who pushed you, has to descend from the mountain top to get to the spring. You walked along the river at one level all the time. Who knows what perils still await them, when they have to descend on their end, from the mountain top at the end of the trail.

You may very well reach it way before them, and in better condition.
